We've read the book you asked about. We liked it, but didn't love it. My son endured it, and it was interesting at least to me, but he wasn't clamoring for it. But I don't know your girls' taste exactly. I will say that both my son and I really like Geo. Washington's World!

I just wanted to share some of the websites I have found and am using with my kids. The NPR site has past shows to listen to and worksheets/activities that go along with the show.

NPR Classics for Kids past shows

Arts Alive (Canada) Music Resources

Choral Arts Society of Washington

We've enjoyed makingmusicfun.net, which has composer bios, some coloring sheets, and other good resources. We've been studying Chopin and I found an excellent YouTube video of a pianist playing Chopin via this website. Here's the link to the composer index.
