My sympathies to your kids!

We once had one that went into a cocoon and never came out. You never know why ....

We currently have a tiny, tiny cricket in captivity and he's happily munching away on tomato, banana and peanut butter sandwich.

Well, Ramona has just requested yet another showing of Wonderboy standing up. Off to the movies!

I'm so sad to hear it!! I was rooting for Herodotus and checking in on him every day. DH collected a few chrysallis last year and they stayed in a jar on our porch all winter. We imagined what would emerge all winter long. And still they sit, in exactly the same spot. :( I think Herodotus was my last chance at 'life' for those poor caterpillars.

Ode to Herodotus

Poor ol' Herodotus
Short was your time with us.
We prayed every day
Our fears to allay.
Homer and you are dust.
