This summer: no speaking engagements, no travel commitments. We're still finding french fries in our van from our Virginia-to-California drive.
But if I were going to travel, I'd love to go to:
The Live and Learn Unschooling Conference in beautiful Asheville, NC, September 5-9. Speakers include Danielle Conger, Pam Sarooshian, and my Charlottesville pal Silvia Barrett.
The VaHomeschoolers 2007 Conference and Resource Fair. July 20-21 at the awesome Richmond Science Center. I was a speaker at this conference a couple of years ago and it was a blast. Great venue, fun lineup of talks. That's where I first had the pleasure of encountering Lesley Austin and her lovely wares. The vendor booths were in the Science Center's spacious central lobby area, very easy for browsing. VaHomeschoolers always snags good speakers, like Jeanne Faulconer and Shay Seaborne.
The HomeSchool Association of California Conference 2007 in Sacramento, August 16-19th. Ooh, does this one have a tempting lineup. Sandra Dodd, Mary Griffith, Cafi Cohen. I hope they'll be selling recordings of the talks online afterward.
The 4Real Learning Conference in Manassas, Virginia, on August 11. A whole slew of my pals will be there. It figures this sure-to-be-fabulous event comes together the first summer I'm gone!
Here are a few that are coming up fast:
The Rocky Mountain Catholic Home Educators Conference in Denver, CO, June 21-23. Keynote speaker: Elizabeth Foss. I know several of the people behind this conference and it is sure to be a delightful event.
The Southern California Catholic Home Educators Conference, June 23rd in Chino Hills, CA. Speakers include Laura Berquist and Andrew Pudewa.
There are many, many more conferences and curriculum fairs around the country this summer. A to Z Home's Cool has a master list.
